Take your Bluetooth speakers to the movies!

CineRoom plays a film through every speaker you have, wired and Bluetooth, any brand, and lines them up so the sound arrives together.

Mac App Store · coming soon

For Macs with Apple silicon, macOS 14 or later.

Five small Bluetooth speakers around a laptop on a bed, each with rings of sound spreading from it.

Every Bluetooth speaker is late by a different amount.

Bluetooth adds a delay of up to a few hundred milliseconds, and the delay is different for every speaker and changes each time one reconnects. Play a film through three of them and the same explosion arrives three times.

CineRoom measures each speaker with your Mac's microphone and holds the faster ones back, so every sound lands together. The picture is kept in step with the sound, so voices still match lips.

Without CineRoom the speakers play at different times, 20 to 240 milliseconds after the picture. With CineRoom they all play together, and the picture waits for them.

An example with four speakers. Your numbers will differ, and CineRoom measures them for you.

Built for the speakers people actually have.

Any speakers, any mix
Pairs, single speakers and a subwoofer. Wired, USB and Bluetooth together, up to 7.1, with no extra hardware and no Aggregate Device.
Measured, not guessed
A few clicks per speaker, about 30 seconds in all. Bluetooth speakers reconnect with new delays, so CineRoom checks again before the first film of each session.
Loud scenes, tamed
Gunfire, music and explosions no longer jump out at you. CineRoom tames sudden jumps in volume: you choose how much louder than the dialogue a scene may get, from 1 to 10 dB, and the voices stay clear. Part of Pro.
Your room on a map
Each speaker is a square on a plan of the room. Set its role, level, delay and equalizer, and play a click on it to find out which one it is.
A library that watches your folders
Point CineRoom at the folders where your films live. Pro adds posters, descriptions, cast and trailers from free public sources. Your files never leave your Mac.
New films from your favourite actors
Add actors and directors to your favorites, and CineRoom tells you when they have a new film out. A notification arrives on your Mac, and the New releases section of the library keeps them all in one place. Part of Pro.
Lists, favorites and ratings
An optional account keeps favorites, lists and where you stopped the same on every Mac. Share a list with the community or rate what you watched.
A player that gets out of the way
A full-screen player for the files you already have, with subtitles, chapters, a floating window and keys that work.

Questions

Which Macs does it run on?

Macs with Apple silicon and macOS 14 Sonoma or later.

Do I need special speakers?

No. Any speaker your Mac sees as a sound output works: Bluetooth, USB or the headphone jack. Cheap true-wireless pairs work as well.

Does it work with Netflix, YouTube or other streaming services?

No. CineRoom plays video files on your Mac. Streaming services lock their sound to their own app, so no other app can split it across speakers.

Where do the films come from?

From you. CineRoom does not download, host or share films. It plays the files in the folders you choose.

What does the microphone do?

It listens to the calibration clicks so CineRoom can measure each speaker's delay. The measurement happens on your Mac, and nothing is recorded or sent anywhere.

What happens if I stop paying?

You keep the free version: the player, the library of your files and one audio output. Your other speakers keep their settings and play again when you resubscribe.
